#135 Design Accessible Web Sites

In this bonus episode of the NosillaCast, I’m joined by Paige Eissinger of the Views from the Coop Podcast talking about the O’Reilly book “Design Accessible Web Sites” by Jeremy Sydik. It’s a great interview and a subject near and dear to my heart. I don’t think you have to be a web designer to enjoy this episode, Paige’s style is genuine and light hearted.

Today is Friday, February 15th, 2008 and this is show #135. Wait a minute – FRIDAY? I thought the show only came out on Sundays??? Well, this week you’re getting a bonus show. I did a great interview today and I just couldn’t wait to get it out. Sit back and enjoy.

Somehow I got on the mailing list for O’Reilly books, which isn’t a bad list to be on actually. In nerdom their books are some of the best. One day Mary Rotman of O’Reilly sent out a message about a new book called O’Reilly book “Design Accessible Web Sites” by Jeremy Sydik. Well this was of great interest to me of course because of the topic, but unfortunately I’m not a web designer. However, my good friend Paige Eissinger IS a web designer. She’s also the host of the Views From the Coop podcast hosted atviewsfromthecoop.com . We thought it would be fun if she read the book and then gave us a review of it in an interview.

Paige notes:
Why be accessible?
It’s the right thing to do, It’s good business, Accessible sites are more usable for everybody, It’s the LAW

What I like about the NosillaCast: Allison speed talks…ha!

I hope you enjoyed that, we sure had fun talking. After we stopped recording Paige was laughing at me because I said the conversation should be about 10-15 minutes! It was everything I could do to stop after 30. I think I’d like to have her back on the show again soon. Let me know what you thought of the show, drop me a line at [email protected] or you can send an email to Paige at [email protected]. Heck – email us both! Thanks for listening, and stay subscribed.

Hey, Allison, thanks for making me sound better than I thought I did… It’s always a pleasure to record with you, you little chipmunk! BTW: I co-host an educational podcast called Transformation Education with Dr. Kathy King of Fordham University and our show today was all about….you guessed it….accessibility! Yep, I plugged the bonus show (shamelessly, I might add). You can find our show at http://blog.transformationed.com/ (and once again, I shamelessly plug away…)

[…] with Paige Eissinger and Kim Beasley. You know I love Paige – remember she did the book review of Design Accessible Websites? I had never virtually “met” Kim before so it was fun getting to chat with her too. […]

One of the most important mobile app development process steps in the development process is the wireframing phase. This is where you sketch out the features, interface, and movement of the application. This can be done by hand, though there are many tools available to make it even easier. This step may include a team meeting to review the proposed design.
