I compare the wide-angle camera on the new iPhone 7 Plus to that of the iPhone 6. I’m hoping it will help you decide if the new camera alone is worth the upgrade. I include a really good sample set of good and low light samples in a downloadable for the comparison so you can follow along. Tom Stewart joins us for a review of the flight simulator called X-Plane from X-Plane.com. Next up I’ll walk you through the differences between the original Apple Watch and the new Apple Watch Series 2, again to help you decide if it’s worth the upgrade. Finally we’ll hear a quick message from Allister Jenks as he tells us how he created a Podfeet Sticker Pack for the new iMessage in iOS 10 and macOS Sierra.
Hi this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Mac Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Macintosh bias. Today is Sunday September 25, 2016 and this is show number 594. We’re visiting our grandson Forbes this week so if you notice a bit of difference in the audio, you’re hearing my “road mic”, the ATR2100 from Audio-Technica.
Chit Chat Across the Pond
I had a complete blast on Chit Chat Across the Pond this week. Mike Elgan, tech opinion columnist and often guest on the TWiT network, joined us to talk about his life as a digital nomad. Get this, he lives for months at a time in different countries, and he even sold his house so he’s a full time nomad. We talk about the experiences he and his family have had living this way, how he works the finances of such an adventurous life, and of course how he does his tech job living all over the world. Mike is absolutely delightful and I think you’ll really enjoy this episode. If you’re not already subscribed, search for Chit Chat Across the Pond in your podcatcher of choice, or you can listen right at podfeet.com/blog/2016/09/ccatp-456/.

How Much Better is the iPhone 7 Plus Wide-Angle Camera Than the iPhone 6?
Fly All Over the World with X-Plane Flight Simulator
Thanks Tom, this sounds so cool! I know there’s a lot of flight fanatics in the NosillaCastaways, so I bet they’re going to love this. As you’ve just heard, Tom’s audio was spectacular. He told me he experimented with a bunch of techniques, and guess what one he sent us? That was his iPhone using the Voice Memo app! Seriously. We sometime struggle with low volume recordings, tinny headset recordings, background echo…forget trying to do it fancy, when you do your reviews in the future, I want everyone who has an iPhone to just use it with Voice Memos!
Patreon
I am absolutely overwhelmed by the response to our new Patreon campaign to support the podcasts. I hesitated for a long time doing this because it’s just weird to ask for money, you know? Patreon works by you going to podfeet.com/patreon and pledging a dollar amount per episode. If I produce a show, you get billed for it. If I don’t, you don’t pay. For many podcasters this is a motivation to keep producing, but since the NosillaCast hasn’t missed a show in more than a decade, you can be pretty darn sure your pledge will go through! I’m not posting the Chit Chat Across the Pond episodes as part of Patreon, so you’ll just be billed for one show a week.
The NosillaCastaways are coming out of the woodwork in droves to help us pay the bills for the production of the shows. I think the most interesting thing about this is how many of you out there have pledged support that I’ve never talked to before. I sometimes forget the size of the audience and think of it only as the people who’ve emailed, tweeted, been to the live show or are members of one of our communities on Facebook and Google Plus.
I’d like to thank Valeri, Barry, Chris, Rueshann, Robert and Dennis for their generous contributions this week.

Podfeet Sticker Pack for iMessage
I know that Stickers are silly but gosh darn it, it’s good to take a break from the concerns of the world and just be silly sometimes! Thanks Allister, this is really cool! By the way, Steve and I have both been using Allister’s Night Clock and it’s really cool It does one thing and does it well. You get a beautifully simple analog clock in a mellow color of your choosing. It stays on all night so you don’t have to play with the phone to check the time. If you like Allister’s work for the show and his own podcast and blog, check out Night Clock in the app store.
That’s going to wind this up for this week. Don’t forget to send in your Dumb Questions, comments and suggestions by emailing me at [email protected], follow me on twitter @podfeet.
