It’s a fun-filled episode this week with interviews from CES with Synology, Satechi, Elgato and iDevices. Sprinkled in between I’ve got a review of an app for Apple Watch called Workouts++, and an app called Cascable that will let you do more to control your WiFi-enabled camera.
Hi this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Mac Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Macintosh bias. Today is Sunday January 15, 2017 and this is show number 610.
Chit Chat Across the Pond
I had so much fun in Chit Chat Across the Pond this week! I got to have Mikah Sargent on the show. You may have heard him before if you’ve tuned into the Clockwise podcast on Relay.fm, because he and I seem to always be on on the same shows. He also writes a lot for iMore. He’s funny, he’s smart, he’s articulate and he’s got some interesting opinions on Amazon and Apple and their digital assistants and how they integrate in with Home Automation. I hope you’ll subscribe to Chit Chat Across the Pond in your favorite podcatcher or go find episode #471 on podfeet.com.
I’ve got a couple of reviews this week, one for a great new workout app for those Apple Watch fanatics out there, and I’ll tell you about an app for iOS and Mac that might make your WiFi connected camera even more useful.
Steve’s been hard at work producing more interviews from CES. This week we’ll hear about the Synology Network Attached Storage devices, Satechi will tell us about a whole bunch of drool worthy and yet affordable Mac and iOS gadgets to match your devices, we’ll talk to Elgato about their Eve line of connected home devices from thermostats to switches to window alarms and more and finally we’ll talk to iDevices about their connected home devices. Are you noticing a theme here?
As always these are blog posts with videos along with the audio you’ll hear during the podcast. While we were at CES, Steve and I met up with a young friend of ours who has been working on the biggest splash out of CES, the Faraday FF91 electric vehicle. I know there’s a lot of controversy and drama about this company but the car is wicked cool. Our friend got us past the red ropes and onto the floor with it so that we could take pictures and video the car. We did have to wait our turn behind the Chinese Embassador but it was still really cool. Steve did an awesome video showing off the car that you can see over at podfeet.com .
Ok, enough teasing, we’ll bounce back and forth between interviews and my reviews, so settle back and enjoy.

I want one of these Synology Disk Stations so bad I can taste it. I really really liked our Drobo 5n until I saw the software for the Synology. It would be a shame if something happened to our Drobo…

Patreon and Amazon
I am thrilled that so many people are starting to support the NosillaCast through Patreon. Michael Monaco & Angelynn Grant both became Patrons this week. Angelynn and I got chatting with each other, trading “you rock” comments until it was a love fest. The cool thing was that she told me it was Rush’s information about how to pledge a fixed monthly amount that could be as low as a dollar that helped her decide to jump in. I think it’s cool that even inside Patreon NosillaCastaways are helping each other out. I also like that I’m getting to chat with some folks I’ve never gotten to talk to before.
If you’d like to help support the show, go over to podfeet.com/patreon and pledge what you can afford. I want to stress yet again that if you can’t afford to do it, PLEASE don’t do it. Tell a friend about the show write an iTunes review, or just do something nice for someone in your neighborhood. Thank you again to Michael and Angelynn – you rock!

Howdy,
Are you familiar with David Smith’s podcast, Under the Radar? It’s normally David and Marco Armont. When David released Workouts++, he did a solo episode about the experience of launching a new app. It was quite interesting. https://www.relay.fm/radar/59
Ooh – I have not, Shelly! I’ll have to check that out!
