Dr. Garry is back in Chit Chat Across the Pond, George from Tulsa brings us a story he entitled, “Who Ya’ Gonna Call? Try Allison!” Next, I’ll tell you about Jump Desktop to control your Mac/PC from your iOS/Android devices. Dave Ginsburg of the In Touch with IOS Podcast tells us about the Belkin Stage for iOS and Android devices for giving presentations. Finally, I’ll tell you about my adventures installing virtual machines to experiment and solve some problems with Mojave and why I’m an idiot. Twice.
Hi, this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Apple Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Apple bias. Today is Sunday, July 8, 2018, and this is show number 687.
Things are starting to get super busy around here. I’m doing a video tutorial for ScreenCasts Online on Vectornator Pro that I told you about a few weeks ago. Then we’ve got Macstock Expo in less than two weeks so I’ve been head down working on my presentation for that. On top of this fun, we’ve decided to remodel all of our bathrooms and they start Monday with the wrecking ball. I put out the call for help with the show this week and both Dave Ginsburg from the In Touch with iOS podcast and George from Tulsa came through for me. I love the NosillaCastaways community!
Chit Chat Across the Pond
This week, Dr. Maryanne Garry is back on Chit Chat Across the Pond, this time to talk to us about why trying to persuade people with facts and data simply doesn’t work. We don’t call her the Crusher of Dreams for nothing. If you haven’t heard her before, she’s a scientific researcher at the University of Waikato in New Zealand into memory, memory distortions, fans memories, the myth of repression and its overlap with the laws. In spite of how she crushes our dreams, she is delightfully entertaining and sarcastic. I hope you’ll go check it out in either the full Chit Chat Across the Pond feed, or the Chit Chat Across the Pond Lite feed in your podcatcher of choice. Of course, you can always find it over at podfeet.com.

Who Ya’ Gonna Call? Try Allison! – George from Tulsa
Well thanks so much for that, George! I’m so glad you find Steve and my help useful. I have to admit that I don’t have any regular resources, beyond podcasts I listen to. My tech news source is Tom Merritt’s Daily Tech News Show. I learn a lot of geeky Mac and iOS diagnostic stuff from the Mac Geek Gab with Dave Hamilton and John F Braun (in fact he says we have a goal of learning 5 new things every episode). Most of my knowledge of the news around Apple is from Mac OS Ken. And then for a constant stream of commentary on tech, I listen to TWiT shows like MacBreak Weekly and TWiT. For entertainment in tech, I love iOS Today with Megan Morrone and Leo.
I feel like I’m a loser saying this, but I don’t read pretty much anything about tech beyond a few headlines when people send them to me. When I read, it’s all fiction on my Kindle!

Support the Show
When you hear Dave Ginsburg’s upcoming review of his new gadget, if it intrigues you, consider buying it on Amazon. If you use the link I’ve provided in the shownotes, a small percentage of the purchase price may go to help the podcast. This really helps me out. I’ve noted a bit of a price difference in the shownotes, but keep in mind the shipping is free on Amazon (you DO have an Amazon Prime account, right?).
