Allison interviews Brandon Wright, CEO of Barnacle Systems, about their system that provides safe and secure remote monitoring of your boat. Barnacle is like a smart home but tailored for your boat. The Barnacle System consists of a hub that you mount on your boat, typically behind your helm. The hub picks up signals that are fed into your helm to monitor the boat’s status. You can also add wireless sensors (e.g. water leak, motion, multi-purpose accelerometer/door) provided by Barnacle to augment the sensors built into your boat. Barnacle comes with a mobile app that allows you to remotely monitor your boat’s status including battery banks, shore power, bilge activity, and external sensors. Barnacle’s internal sensors include temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, pitch, heal, and impact. You can also capture images of your boat, either manually taking a photo or automatically when a door opens, motion is triggered, or other triggers. The Barnacle System has an optional keypad and key fob that allow you to arm/disarm the system. The setting is Showstoppers at the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas.
