Hi, this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Apple Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Apple bias. Today is Sunday, July 12, 2020, and this is show number 792.
Chit Chat Across the Pond
This week’s Chit Chat Across the Pond is a bit of a surprise, and I can explain that surprise best by telling you what I sent to the Programming By Stealth listeners:
PBS Listeners – Can We Interest You in a Cup of Taming the Terminal?
Blog Posts
Let’s get started with a listener review:
Armorsuit Military Shield for Apple Watch – by Mike Price
Track Timezones, Shift Time with the Beautiful Clocker Menubar App
Next up we’ve got an unusual review from Claus Wolf:
Claus Wolf Reviews the 20-Year-Old iMac G3/500
I love everything about this review from Claus. Looking at the images he put in the blog post sure brought back some fond memories for me too. In the rest of the written review, he explains how he got Mac OS 9 back up and running after he tried to do the upgrade to OS X. He gives detailed instructions on how he made a thumb drive off of which to boot into Mac OS 9 and how he eventually figured out how to get OS X 10.3.2 running after all.
He gives us screenshots of how https thwarted my dream of seeing podfeet.com on Mac OS 9, how he cheated with a quick 3-line PHP script, and how great podfeet.com does look on OS X Panther.
Thank you so much for giving us this fun walk down memory lane, Claus!
Support the Show
So… remember a few weeks ago when I told you that I’d become an affiliate for Wyze products? Welp, this week I got the following message:
“You’re receiving this email because you are currently signed up as a member of our Wyze In Response Affiliate Program. After a little over a month of operating this pilot program we have decided it is time to phase it out and refocus our sights on our smart home offering.”
Oh well, it was fun for the 15 minutes it lasted. And we’ve got a pledge break from the venerable Frank Petrie.
== Insert Pledge Break #9 ==
While I appreciate Frank’s optimisim, and I would love it if you pledged $5-10, even a dollar a week really adds up if enough people do it!
