Allison interviews Jennifer-Biana Gilman from Aqara about their extensive line of smart home devices which includes cameras, locks, controllers, lighting, sensors, hubs, and curtain controllers. Aqara is known for providing affordable products that support automations through their mobile app and are compatible with HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home, and IFTTT.
For example, Aqara’s Camera Hub G3 and Video Doorbell G4 use facial recognition allowing the user to create automations that are specific to individuals in the household.
Aqara’s FP2 Presence Sensor uses mmWave technology to not only detect motion in the room to activate lights but also to provide fall detection and send an alert or activate an alarm if desired. It can even be set for sleep detection to detect heart rate and determine sleep patterns and it can detect the number of people in a room in real time.
Aqara sells a water leak sensor that notifies the homeowner when a leak is detected. They also are developing an in-line retrofit valve that will mechanically turn off a water line if commanded. When paired with the leak sensor, the retrofit valve could prevent costly flood damage in the home.
