In this week’s show I’ll tell you about all the new tools that have been added to Parallels Toolbox since I last told you about it, then I’ll give you an awesome Tiny Tip about how to turn your iOS keyboard into a trackpad for text insertion. Then we have a really long and fun segment of Security Bits with Bart Busschots.
Hi, this is Allison Sheridan of the NosillaCast Apple Podcast, hosted at Podfeet.com, a technology geek podcast with an EVER so slight Apple bias. Today is Sunday, November 18, 2018, and this is show number 706.
Chit Chat Across the Pond
This week Dave Ginsburg of the In Touch with iOS podcast (intouchwithios.com) joined me for a chit chat, but when we were done recording, we both decided it was dreadful. The topic was all wrong, and didn’t work out at all like we’d expected. We struggled with what to do about it, whether we should post something neither of us were proud of. The good news is we came up with a new topic and did a whole new recording. In this week’s episode of Chit Chat Across the Pond Lite, Dave gives us his top 20 iOS tips. It was a lot of fun. Dave specializes in iOS so he knows way more than I do about it.
I do want to make a correction before you listen – we inadvertently said that all iPhones now swipe down from the top right to get to Control Center. That’s true of all iPads, but the Touch ID iPhones still do swipe up to get to Control Center. Thanks to Steve Davidson for being the first to point this out to us.
In any case, I hope you’ll have fun with Dave’s top 20 tips for iOS and learn as much as I did. You can find this episode in your podcatcher of choice under Chit Chat Across the Pond, or Chit Chat Across the Pond Lite, or at podfeet.com: CCATP #572 – Dave Ginsburg Top 20 iOS 12 Tips.
Last week I was positively knackered when I did the show. I’m sure you probably noticed that I didn’t have my usual vim and vigor. We’d just done a 5.5 mile hike with Steve’s sister and her husband, and for some reason we sorta forgot to eat very much. I was going to give you the following review but I positively didn’t have a single ounce of energy left to do it. The live show audience noted my utter exhaustion and Kevin said, “It’s ok, Allison, save it.” I was so relieved when he said that. I know I didn’t need permission but I feel a strong commitment to you guys and I didn’t want to leave you guys short. In any case, let’s finally get this show on the road!

It’s getting to be the holiday season with the Black Friday sales already in full swing a full week before the actual Friday. As you go about your shopping, you might find some Amazon Affiliate Links on podfeet.com to products we’ve talked about. If you use those links to make your purchase, a small percentage of the cost of the item will come to help defer the costs of creating the Podfeet Podcasts. If you buy right after clicking the links, anything else in that same session will also go to help the show. Every little bit helps and I really appreciate all of you who use this method to help us keep the show going.
Security Bits – 15 November 2018
That’s going to wind this up for this week. We won’t have a Chit Chat next week but we WILL have a NosillaCast next week on Sunday, keeping the 13+ year streak alive. Troy Shimkus has done a guest review for us, and Bart graciously agreed to do an extra Security Bits for us so I don’t have to work too hard over the holiday weekend.
