Allison interviews Michael Shabun from Insta360 about their new modular action camera. The ONE R is the world’s first modular action camera with three interchangeable lens/sensor options. The ONE R has a bottom-mounted battery, a control module with a reversible touch screen, and a lens/sensor module, all of which can be easily plugged together and pulled apart for reconfiguration. The 360 lens/sensor module shoots up to 5.7K video and includes stitching algorithms to produce H.265 or ProRes formatted video. The wide-angle lens/sensor module shoots 4K/60fps video. And the ONE R module includes a Leica lens with a full 1” sensor. It shoots up to 5.3K/30fps video and performs extremely well under low-light conditions. Other ONE R camera features include FlowState image stabilization, Hyperlapse video, and 19 MP HDR photos. The ONE R can be controlled using the touchscreen, with Apple Watch, or through voice control. The ONE R camera is waterproof to 5m depth and is rated at IPX8.
