Clockwise #449: It’s Still Working, I’m So Sad
This week I got to be on Clockwise again with Dan Moren and Mikah Sargent and I was thrilled to find out that the fourth player was going to be John Siracusa. If you haven’t yet heard John, he’s one of the three hosts of the awesome Accidental Tech Podcast. I listen to ATP and have always said that if I ever got to meet any of the three of them, I hoped it would be John. He’s quirky and brilliant, and has a super quick wit. On Clockwise we talked about the tech we always travel with, things we hope seem slow in 30 years, Twitter’s new Close Friends feature, and devices we own that we secretly wish would die.
I had a blast doing the show with him, and then afterward asked him if he’d come on Chit Chat Across the Pond and he said yes! I’m starting a list of things to talk to him about, but one thing that we’ll go through for sure is his enthusiast’s explanation of the different display technologies from LCD up through Quantum Dot OLED. I’m super excited to get to talk to him one-on-one and pick his brains. Airalo eSim for US Travel – by Claus Wolf
The price on this is amazing. I use Google Fi which is $10/GB and you paid $3.2/GB. Google Fi has a few advantages: I get multiple data-only cards with this so Steve and I can share the data, and we get one real phone number. At 6GB you stop paying any more, so $60 is the most you pay in a calendar month, but the price on Airalo sure is pretty darned attractive!
How would the QR code have worked if you hadn’t printed it out? Seems like a self-referential problem.
You mentioned your fallback plan for phone calls would have been a phone booth, but I just checked and there are four total phone booths in all of New York!
PlexiCam: The Webcam Mount You Didn’t Know You Need for Your Display – by Jeff Gamet
I’ve got the magnetically mounted Logitech 4K for XDR, and in poking at the PlexiCam site I noticed they’ll even accommodate that option. they sell a little 3M sticky thing to give a 1/4-20 thread to those without it. I’m kind of tempted to try this. Thanks so much for this review, Jeff, it was great!

That was fantastic, Kurt. I hope to carve out the time to watch some of the intro videos so I can give FreeCAD a successful spin. I tweeted out a link to Kurt’s written article and included @FreeCADNews on distribution. They loved it (as you can imagine) and also included this note:
