Allison interviews Adrianne Mascho from Feeldom about their handcrafted backpacks that are designed for those who are blind or with low vision and/or those who use a wheelchair. These backpacks are designed by actual wheelchair users who consider the needs and suggestions of people with all kinds of disabilities. Feeldom backpacks have a padded structure to remain open when unzipped yet are lightweight. They all have multiple outside and interior pockets designed for easy access. They come in multiple models, sizes, and colors for use on the body or strapped to a wheelchair. Feeldom’s wheelchair models have an 8-strap system customizable to all chair types and backpack straps for caregivers to use. Feeldom’s low-vision models have a bright orange interior for easier identification of backpack contents. Each outer pocket has a white plastic molded ring zipper adjacent to a lockable D-ring. The outside pockets also have brail patches to help the user identify each of them. They also come with a zipper pouch to accommodate a smart cane or cane with a large tip. All Feeldom backpacks are made from high-quality materials sourced from South Korea. The setting is the CSUN Assistive Technology Conference show floor at the Marriott in Anaheim, CA.
